Indonesia travel information

Passports and Visa

To avoid any unpleasantness on arrival, check your passport before leaving. Make sure it will be valid for at least 6 month after arrival. Also check at your local Indonesian embassy or consulate whether you need a visa. Please make two photocopies of the relevant pages of your passport on arrival and give these to your travel guide on board. Some nationalities are allowed to purchase the visa „on arrival“ but several other nationalities must apply at home before departure.

Climate and monsoon

Indonesia has a tropical climate with temeratures varying from 27°C to 32°C. Humidity is quite high : 50-90 % depending on the dry and wet season. Dry season is usually from March until November and wet season from December to February. The trips of Sea Lady are planned according to these seasons. In February we do not sail because the weather can be rather unfavorable then. We use this time for our annual docking.

Travel insurance

We expect our passengers to have personal travel insurance, as well as for divers to have appropriate insurance which covers diving accidents. A cancellation insurance is optional. Contact an insurance company or your travel agent.

Malaria

There are no mosquitoes at the sea. Ashore, there will be. Protect yourselves against mosquito bites when ashore. Cover up exposed skin at early evening, wear light coloured long-sleeved clothes and mosquito repellent cream or spray. For malaria prophylactis you must check with your local medical centre.

Sunburn and heat stroke

The burning power of the tropical sun is phenomenal, especially at high altitude. We reccommend to keep away from direct sunlight especially at noon, always use sun cream with high UV protection factor, sunglasses and a hat orcap. Always were a T-shirt when you go snorkeling. Avoid dehydratation by drinking lots of non-alcoholic fluid. Put extra salt on your food.

Hygiene

On board of Sea Lady we only use boiled or drinking water for washing or preparing food. When ashore, please be careful of what you eat or drink. We advise bottled drinks, tea or coffee. Never drink water from taps !

Seasickness

Some passengers are afraid that their holiday could be spoiled because of seasickness. Of course the swell or wind can sometimes be stronger than usual, possibly causing a mild form of seasickness. In that case you can také a tablet available on the ship. Once used to the movement of the ship, however, you probably won´t get seasick at all.

Small cuts and scratches

The tiniest cut or scretch gets easily infected in a tropical climate. Whenever the skin is broken, clean it, treat it, and cover it. There is a first aid kit onboard, but do bring your own small size one.

Money

Indonesian currency is the Rupiah. You can change EUR or USD. If you bring USD, take100 notes because for 50-20-10-5-1 you get a lower rate. EUR bank notes is not a problem. Major credit cards are widely accepted in the main centres, though in smaller towns i tis still rare to able to pay by a credit card. ATM s that akcept foreign cards are widespread inthe main centres and cities. We will take you off the bratem track, so we odvise you to bring cash money slony on board.
